How you can heal your gut with Probiotics? I tried SEED Probiotics and here's what happened…

Probiotics have always been a top recommendation from my doctor, but every time I have taken a recommended type, they haven’t quite worked for me. When I had the opportunity to meet and connect with founder of SEED, Ara Katz she posed many questions that made me curious about this amazing product. Could it really help increase my mood?

When I decided to give the product a try, I was so impressed by the packaging and commitment to sustainability all around. The model of their product comes with glass refillable jars, and refills arrive each month in a biodegradable packet (subscription type model). The jars came in an ultra-sustainable mycelium tray grown from mushrooms….. YES. Mushrooms. It’s incredible how far the company is committed to reducing waste and also thinking outside of the box when it comes to shipping materials and sustainability. A+ for design. I love the sleek green jar and love the little week size travel container that comes with it.

Let’s get down to the product? How does this probiotic compare to other probiotics and why is this one the best? Check the chart below for some quick facts. The main fact being, probiotics is a huge buzzword. We hear about how this “good bacteria” is in food and drinks and now even added to foods (sheesh!). The reality is, probiotics need a high strain count to travel all the way to your colon where it works its magic.

So why take probiotics in the first place? Well the answer to that comes from understanding our microbiome. There are over 38 trillion micro-organisms living in and on us and this is called our microbiome. Contrary to popular belief about bacteria due to it’s bad reputation for harmful strains, there are good bacteria that are essential for our survival and ability for our bodies and gut to flourish. “They digest our food, regulate inflammation, and synthesize key vitamins, metabolites, and neurotransmitters” (SEED). Since our gastrointestinal system is connected with everything from metabolic and immune function to cardiovascular, dermatological and mental health, it is extremely important to make sure our gut is is good working order. This is where probiotics come in.

Having a healthy, resilient gut microbiome relies on 2 factors:

  1. richness, the total number of bacterial species in your gut microbiome

  2. biodiversity, the amount of individual bacteria from each of the bacterial species present in your gut microbiome

So how did SEED Probiotic effect me?

Happy gut: Let’s start here and be honest and frank. I have a history of having a lot of serious G.I. issues but never really could target whether it was the gluten, or dairy, or maybe a stomach bug? Seed changed everything. About a month of taking the probiotic was all I needed to do to get my bowel movement regular and I have been trying for the last years to find a natural solution. Bloating as subsided too as a result of a healthy gut.

Improved mood and energy: Not going to the bathroom = low energy, bad mood, irritated, poor diet choices because you feel crappy to begin with. I have energy, and find it easier to make healthier choices since I feel good.
