“The wound is the place where the light enters you.” – RUMI

I was always a bit envious of those who could achieve that “peace of mind.” It seems silly to say, but I wanted to do or try anything that would help me to achieve that goal. Ultimately, I achieved peace of mind through yoga, and have become stronger both mentally and physically.

Free People Movement held an amazing event that inspired people to get outdoors. A hike by REI and yoga flow by Core Power, they brought together over 150 people in Griffith Park to share 1 thing: the love for movement and being active.

I’m no yogi or do I name myself to be, but I love that Free People inspired this many of us to come practice together in the great outdoors. Yoga helps me to focus on one thing at a time during the practice which I therefore carry outside of my practice. Each time I complete a yoga class, I feel more mindful of all my actions during and therefore following. Yoga helps me slow down and set my intentions, helping me feel calm and clear minded. Thank you Free People for this opportunity, this chance to feel the power of movement through yoga.

Special thank you to Core Power, REI, Sweet Leaf, and Sun Life Organics!

November in San Francisco means layers. Layers on layers on layers. This little slip by Free People is easy to wear over jeans or a skirt. Thigh highs with boots and I’m good to go. The good thing about this top is, you can wear it by itself, or wear it with layers on top to make it look more like a dress or a skirt.

My friend reminded me today that we have so many of the same articles of clothing in both of our closets, but we wear them in completely different ways. I guess I would agree with her that I do have a “grungier” look thank her, but it’s only because I love vintage so much. I always try to add at least 1 element of vintage into an outfit just to add my own uniqueness to it. Who wants to fit in when you can stand out? Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

FP Go Vegan

roof1 blog roof2 blog roof3roof4

So here we go with the Free People Go Vegan Campaign. They’ve recently released a ton of new products on their site and in store made out of Vegan leather instead of real leather. I think this is amazing because 1. it’s ethically a better alternative and 2. it’s definitely more affordable than real leather. If you love the leather look, but don’t actually like the concept of leather (or price), than check out Free People’s new #FPGoVegan Campaign. Tons of looks inspired by bloggers (me included).

Here I’m wearing the Vegan Metallic Motorcycle Jacket in the Bronze Metallic Color, paired with a black tank and skinny jeans. A black hat with some brown boots to balance out the look. To get my look, see below!

Spell & the Gypsy Collective has made dressing for festivals simple with their printed playsuits. I especially love the tie tassels at the waist, made for more or less cinching at the waist. Also, the sides of the shorts have adjustable buttons so you can decide just how much leg you want to show ;). Shown here in the tribal print, it also comes in a floral print available on their website.

The Panel Slip

More and more, has become more acceptable to wear short, loose dresses called “slips.” Those loose tunic top dresses that make you wonder, “Is she or is she not wearing shorts underneath that?” My advice is that if you are wearing something considerably loose and short, do not wear a high heel and you are fine. Wear boots or sandals with a slip and you’re good. But if you feel like wearing high heels, then wear shorts under or else everyone will see your ass. :)

This Gardens of Gardenia Slip by Free People is loose enough to be comfortable, but is lined with flowers on its 3 front panels to form some shape around your figure. Probably my favorite part about it is the contrast of light and dark! I’ll be wearing a lot more slips in the near future now that the weather is warming up in San Francisco

Add something playful to your summer wardrobe like this patterned jumpsuit! Novella Royale chose the perfect bohemian floral print for this jumper, with a plunging neckline and open back. It’s form fitting and could be worn both day & night. Not to mention perfect for festival season (Outside Lands & Lollapalooza are around the corner)! If you haven’t checked out Novella Royale’s 2013 collection, you’re seriously missing out (bell bottoms, rompers, tops, and studded jackets galore). Check out the link below:

Roshambo from FreePeople on Vimeo.

Their chance encounter- what is it fate? If you don’t already have a crush on actor Christopher Abbott (aka Charlie from the hit HBO show ‘Girls’), I’m sure you will after watching this video. This Free People video is more than just an advertisement, it’s a romantic whirlwind of a love story. Threads are beautiful, song is blissful- I wish the story never ended. It’s safe to say I love everything about this campaign including model/actress Sheila Marquez. Check out more pics from the February catalog below:

free to be, you and me

Posted on: January 7, 2013

If theres one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love nature. I believe in it’s healing powers and it’s ability to grant an escape to serenity. A place to be free from all the worries that consume and clutter our everyday lives, a place to wander and wonder. Don’t get me wrong I’m definitely a city girl but something about getting lost in the woods…..
