Without a doubt, the one thing that can bring people together is music. No matter their age, background,  income level, sexual preference; the one thing that can definitely connect us all together is music. It has been a huge part of my life, especially seeing live shows in LA given the number of artists who travel to this town to perform. As a teenager, it was a huge privilege to go to shows and it was something I never took for granted. I remember the first rock concert I ever attended. It was at the Wiltern to see the Used (with opener Saosin- Yes, I was that girl, weren’t we all?).

Since then? Nothing’s changed. I love going to shows so much because you get to actually hear and feel the music live, not to mention, be with others who love the same music as well. It’s the whole sensory package, to be with the crowd, to hear the music live and not just a played back audio file. It’s a beautiful thing to be in a room full of people singing the same song, it’s magic.

That being said, Red Bull’s 30 Day’s in LA brings 30 nights of music to different venues all across Los Angeles. Hand’s down one of the coolest things Red Bull has done in LA has to be this. It’s a huge ode to one of the music capitals of the world and it’s one of the coolest ways to bring people together and introduce them to new music. Sylvan Esso killed it, and Race Banyon is on my favorites list after he played a killer set before Sylvan Esso.

“Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different.” C.S. Lewis

Without a doubt, change has been the most powerful element in my life as of the last year. I look back on all the changes that have occurred in my life and can’t believe how much has changed, especially the people that have come in and out of my life. I always wondered if it was me who changed, or perhaps it was them? Friends, lovers, or whatever the case was, I realize we both changed over time. Nothing happens overnight. It’s good to accept change, and move forward from it and not dwell on things we can’t control. It’s nice to find peace in knowing that change is possible though, and it can be a very good thing. People can change, outcomes can change, the weather changes.

Had to get away somewhere close to LA for a trip to recharge my batteries. The one place I always feel refreshed when I go back is when I’m around nature. After constant deliberation where to go, my sister and I decided on a roadtrip to Utah, as we had never been.  Zion had been on my agenda for several years, finally a break in my busy schedule and 6 hours later we were in Utah.

As of lately, I’ve been looking for some workout clothes that are 1. comfortable to workout in 2. are cute and 3. don’t cost a fortune. All the sudden, Urban Outfitters answers all my workout clothes prayers with their Without Walls brand. Every single sports bra, spandex short, running short, legging, shirt, jacket, seriously EVERYTHING is comfortable, breathable, and not to mention, really cute! When it’s 90 degree’s in Zion, believe me when I say less is best. It got cooler as we headed down the hike, but Observation Point is a must see for those going to Zion National Park! Photos from Bryce Canyon National Park soon, Xx

“She changed me. She changed the books I read, the music I listened to. She changed the way I walked and the way I talked. She changed the way I looked at the world. The night sky, the moon, and every star. She changed the way my heart could feel. She showed me a love so deep I never thought even existed. She’s gone now, but the love isn’t. She change me, in to me.”

Stone Cold Fox always gets it right with just the right amount of va-va-voom. Their maxi dresses are perfection. The most important thing about wearing something like this to me is how you feel when you wear it. You should feel beautiful and sexy. Beachwood Canyon has that old Hollywood feel. Snapped some photos on a friends fire escape while in the neighborhood cause the weather was too nice not to. Then headed out for the night.

We all have that one spot where we like to go to clear our minds. A sacred space. A place to remember why you are here and bring you back to earth. A grounding spot. Sunday was spent showing my friend my zen spot.

If you don’t have a zen spot, but want to get grounded, try this meditation:

Light a candle, turn off the lights, and sit one to two feet away, staring at it for several minutes. When you mind wanders, simply note this and bring your attention back to the flame. Become the flame. Now  blow out the candle and close your eyes. Let the after-image of the flame form on the inside of your eyelids. Watch the flame. Go into the flame. Be flame. Let go and dissolve into the clear light of the natural mind. Meditate.

One of my favorite little numbers by For Love and Lemons. The iconic banana tree print reminds me that of the one used at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Cute safari car to match and you’re good to go.
